The flight from Hartford to Raleigh is only an hour and twenty minutes long, but as fate would have it, we spent around seven hours trying to get home on our non-stop flight.
Apparently a lot of air traffic from New York was re-routed to Hartford due weather conditions, and if you've ever been to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT, you'll know it's not the biggest airport in the world. The influx of aircraft to the small airport forced us little CT folk away from our gates and over to another part of the tarmac while the re-routed planes stopped to refuel. We spent about an hour and a half sitting in the plane, on the tarmac, waiting for these planes with no where else to go to re-fuel and depart before we could even return to our gate and deplane.
After all of the extra planes left Hartford, there was the issue of clearing our flight route to NC, which took some more time. Unfortunately all of the restaurants in the airport were closed by the time we got off the plane (around 7PM), but luckily the airport Sheraton had some food so we were at least satiated by something other than small bags of pretzels. Every other flight from Hartford got their route cleared and was off on their way...except for us. My mom (from Vinney's side), works at AA, so she pulled her magic with getting us booked on a flight tomorrow, but thankfully that wasn't necessary. When all hope was nearing extinction, our gate agent got the call and we boarded the plane destined for NC - about 5 hours later than we did the first time.
All in all I can't really complain, it wasn't that bad, and it was a lot better than driving down I-95 to get down here; it's good to be home. As I mentioned earlier, we've got tons of house related meetings down here. I also have to fix some problems with my parents' computers/network (something always seems to break when I'm not around). The Xbox/PS3 piece is basically done minus some polish and a few pretty pictures, it'll go up tonight so I can finally be done with that.
I'm fairly tired but I've got a bit more work to do before I feel I've earned the right to turn in for the night. Luckily my first meeting isn't until noon tomorrow, so I should be able to get just a lil bit of sleep.

Here's the problem, comparing a dev kit with a 2.4 ghz cell processor with two 6800 ultras in SLI, to a dev kit with dual processor G5's and an X800 card is a HUGE difference. Based on what they have to work on at the moment devs could certainly say it seems like one is immensely more powerful than the other. But the fact is that decision can't be made until both consoles actually exist in final form.Darkon - Thursday, June 23, 2005 - link
EGM is hardly pro sony

ROFFLES, Darkeye wtf are you doing here?JoeS - Thursday, June 23, 2005 - link
Thanks Darkeye. I don't read the game mags so I had no idea it was a pro-Sony publication.I would still like to hear what the developers that are developing for both systems have to say, but I don't think a good assessment will be able to be made until the final console versions are available anyway.

More X360 vs PS3 info:===========================================================
Take it for what you will, but the mag Electronic Gaming's rumor section has the following quote from their 'Q' reporter:
PlayStation 3 > Xbox 2
Every time I’ve chatted about next-gen consoles with the development community, nobody has really been able to tell me which machine has the most horsepower...until now. One high-profile developer who has seen both PS3 and Xbox 2 technology recently whispered into my innocent ear, “The next PlayStation is way, way more powerful than Xbox 2. It’s insanely powerful.” But don’t cry, all you Xbots out there—my source promises that we’ll still be quite impressed with the capabilities of Microsoft’s Xbox successor.
Also in the current issue, the editors are discussing next gen questions and answers from the readers. When asked for PS3 vs. XBox 2 info, one of the editors says he was surprised to hear from several developers that the PS3 was many times more powerful than the XBox2. The editor thought they'd be similar in power and abilities (like now to some extent), but that's not what he's hearing from those that seem to know. Read it yourself in this month's issue of EGM. Who knows until all is revealed.- http://forum.pcvsconsole.com/viewthread.php?tid=14...

Coupled with the positive endorsements from software developers Epic Games (http://biz.gamedaily.com/features.asp?article_id=9... Factor 5 (http://news.com.com/2100-1043_3-5712174.html) and MGS creator Hideo Kojima comments regarding the PS3 offering “the finest dinner” of the three consoles and contrast that with the lack of “X360 is more powerful that the PS3” comments from 'developers'and this is really starting to look like there is a definitively huge advantage with the PS3.
My only questions are, are these developers relying mostly on the hype or are their opinions based on experiences from working on both machines? And further, if they are working with both machines, how can they make a true determination, if the dev kits they are working on are systems that are running at 25% to 75% of the final product?

I live in Sydney, and my family's in the US...Roundtrip for a family visit is ~28 hours!
Believe me, I feel your pain!

Been stuck in an airplane for 1 1/2 hours before, we were stuck 6 inches or so of ice/snow/ice/snow at the gate. They broke 2 tongues on the vehicle that pushes the plane out from the gate. They de-iced the area around the tires and set us free.Of course that was after being stuck in the airport for 3 days back in December when the snow storm blew through Cincinnati area.

Depending on where you are in Branford you don't need to even get on I95 to get to Bradley. Shoot me an email and I'll give you some back roads directions so you can skip I-95 totally. It would only add a few minutes to your commute.I95 sucks, especially with all the construction that is going on in East Haven right now. Wait until they do the Q bridge over, that's going to be a nightmare.
