I don't know if this is going to eat a lot into Nano's niche market or not, but this card is quite a bit wider than the PCIe shield's width, whereas the Nano is almost a perfect fit. There are probably more than a couple of mITX cases where the Nano fits and this doesn't.
OTOH, Fiji's hardware video codecs and output options are getting a bit terrible for future-proof HTPCs, so..
Had to choose a video card for my HTPC, because I bought a new 4k TV. Ended up with an ITX sized Zotac GTX960 for my 20cm case. I needed/wanted native HDMI 2.0 without the need for adapters, so anything AMD was out of the question unfortunately. I'll see what I end up with next upgrade cycle (I haven't started a single game on the HTPC though, so maybe the GTX 960 stays a while... until room scale VR becomes a thing)....
Port configurations are sometimes so weird. Which GPU still has 2 DVI these days?
There is really no reason to not offer the same array of outputs the "big" GPUs have, 3xDP, 1x HDMI, 1x DVI, or 2xDP/2xHDMI/1xDVI, whichever combination you prefer more.
I argue they should just do 4 miniDP + 1 DL-DVI, and shove two passive miniDP to HDMI adapters. Makes things way easier for watercooling, and even improves exhaust for air-cooled blowers.
Well, my HP zr30w only has two inputs: DL-DVI and DP. The DP is already being used by my MacBook Pro, so I need the DL-DVI port on my PC's GPU to connect both and switch between them. The diameter of the cord to the tower under the desk is insignificant.
Interesting. Why not go with a proper KVM instead? Something that supports 2560*1600? There are several on the market, and I've found them to be vastly better than physically swapping mice and keyboards for my several desktop and laptops.
Seems like the exact same cooler of the 950/960/970. Had the N970IX and I think the cooler it's a bit short for 150ish TDP cards, it's sufficient but will get noisy when stressed, and the VRAM on the back doesn't have cooling, the card lacks a backplate. However my sister has the exact same card, but the 960 one housed in an Elite 110 case and the card works great and doesn't get so noisy with a 120W chip, so probably it's good for a liquidcooled conversion (these cards tend to cost much less than the other versions, in Italy the 970 was 80/60 euro less, 30 euro less than the Zotac)

same goes for any 16nm/14nm GPU. RX480's are even selling for +$150 over MSRP right nowtuxfool - Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - link
I don't know where you live but those RX480s definitely aren't over 150$ over MSRP where I checked.bj_murphy - Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - link
In Canada they are at some vendors. Probably not hitting $150 price premiums in US dollars though I'd imagine.ToTTenTranz - Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - link

That's an interesting perspective.I hadn't thought of how this would compare to a nano.

would prefer more than 1 DP port... no need for 2x DVI.nevcairiel - Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - link

Guys when will the Geforce GTX 1070 Gigabytes Mini ITX come out What is the launch date for it ?Wardrop - Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - link
Agreed, it makes very little sense, especially given the fact you need a chunky-ass Dual-Link DVI cable to drive anything above Full HD resolution.Eidigean - Wednesday, July 6, 2016 - link

Yeah, 2x DVI is really weird. Two DP ports would have been much bettersfuzzz - Tuesday, July 5, 2016 - link
