a good benchmark is also a game that is popular and well known...like BF1942 Most benchmarkers are STILL using Quake3...hardly a game "that pushes the hardware as much as possible using technology of the moment..."
A good benchmarking game is one that pushes the hardware as much as possible using technology of the moment. BF1942 is indeed popular, but there are far better programs for benchmarking. Things using shaders for example. However, somethings reviews do show results based on older engines but of course, theres better examples there to.
yeah.. i said it before and ill say it again... battlefield 1942.. big game right now.. looks really impressive with all eyecandy... the Desert Combat mod is even more impressive. Love to see benches from these two. Also, MiN and MAx FpS. Im really looking to upgrade, so... the more info the better.... anyways,
have fun this weekend, and dont do anything i wouldnt do.... which aint really much :Q
I been around since you started this place out of you bedroom and I have to say you truly impress me with the professionalism and anti-bias work you have always put out. You, Sharky's, Voodoo Extreme and [H]OCP have done wonders for the community and although VoodooX and Sharky's have sort of "gone soft" It's great to still have you and Kyle around to look to for real info with personality and integrity. I don't think anyone visiting here actually realizes or appreciates all the sacrifices and time you put into this site, as much as the few people that have been around since your humble start. Thanks for helping be one of the pillars of the Hardware community.
CT? Well I'll be at the Durham Fair this weekend, a large volunteer fair in CT. I doubt you'll be there but you'll probably see it on the news while you're up here. :) Enjoy my state.
Man it seems you will have a sweet weekend yourself.Wish it was me :-)
On that note, how about doing a benchie with morrowind? I know its not popular, but i really would like to know how it fares, what with all those open spaces. I think it would be more interesting than seeing Q3@500 FPS :P
