Who do I have to sleep with to get the res bumped on all these fricken laptops??... 1366 x 768 is way too small to do any serious work on!!!

    Yes, it's small, but it's still ~112DPI on a 14" 16:9 screen.

    It's not 'small' - it's ridiculous for 14" screen.
Even 1440x900 on my 13" MBA looks pretty crappy.
Just for comparison, Sony offers 13" laptops with 1920x1080 resolution - I haven't seen those yet, but I can imagine the screen being truly gorgeous there.

Are there any notebook available with upgradable screens anymore? I don't need anything more than an i3 with decent resolution, but I'm not willing to pay $900+ for an i3. Also feel bad buying even a $350 notebook with only 768 vertical res unless I know I could manually upgrade the screen later.

I agree the need to bump up the resolution, but I also want the DVD drive gone.

I couldn't tell you the last time I loaded a DVD. If I need to load something from a DVD it can wait until I am home and have my USB drive around! Bootable USB Sticks are more than all that is needed...

Another great innovation that Apple has grasped first, but I've complained about for at least a year!

Made the decision to go HP G4 (AMD A6 APU). X460 is a nice form factor, but putting a GT 540M in it is begging for overheating.

Its an attractive design, and I like the CPU & GPU, but I'd be happier with a bigger battery or an SSD over a DVD-RW drive.

I was almost about to order the Asus U36SD-A1, but this has better video, more memory, and is $120 cheaper. I guess I'll wait another week or so and see if either of them are available.

...the trouble with that machine is that the DAMN damn cycles on, then off, then on, then off every 10 or so seconds! (Unless the refresh has fixed this issue)

The MSI X460DX-006US looks interesting, do you think you will get a review unit anytime soon ?

    I sent a request, so we'll see.

I would love to replace my aging Eee with a notebook of this size and this hits all the bullets except for 2 things: remove the CD drive and increase the resolution please.

oh yeah, I also really hate it when notebooks leave 2" of unused space on either side of the keyboard like this, USE THE WHOLE DAMN SPACE for the keyboard please!
