    Agreed.

    Much obliged.

Sorry about that. I was in a rush when writing this so didn't have time to include a table. I usually try though, since they are very clear to read.

second. not nice at all. bad bad intel =P
  • navair2 - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

Did Intel ever really CARE whether or not to share the really big "pond" that is desktop processor's market in the first place?

Business practices are getting vindictive nearly everywhere you look. At this point, I would hazard to guess even AMD would do the "kicking" if the shoes were reversed.

Lol and there going to be bringing out Ivy bridge soon 60% graphic performance increase and 20% performance increase over sandy bridge, also they were kicking AMD when they were on the ground with the first lot of i7 now its just tea bagging them, and with Ivy bridge its just going to be something akin to necrophilia.
  • qepsilonp - Monday, November 14, 2011 - link

Also you have got to remember that AMD is still paying back the debts from trying to compete with Intel from the 64 bit series they took a gamble that people would realize they were better and move hole sale to them. didn't work out and thats why bulldozer was 2 years late.
  • xcomvic - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

1100t on my Crosshair V, was waiting for the release of the "earth-crushing" Bulldozer... I am a very sad panda (and no not a reference to the next super awesome WoW expansion(sarcasm))

I would be very interested in seeing a 2500k price reduction to around $150-%175 :) AMD Fanboy I will not be anymore.
  • C'DaleRider - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

Find someone who has a Microcenter nearby.....2500k's $179 every day, all day long.
  • dgingeri - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

It's frequently even reduced to $149.

You're not alone, I first heard about bulldozer on some random inter company type website around late 2006ish I think, and ever sense I've been patiently waiting to upgrade from my phenom I 2.6 GHz quad core. Well after reading the reviews and initial performance of the bulldozer chips I've finally had enough. I bought a 2500k chip, mobo, and ddr3 ram a couple nights ago, should be here tomorrow. I'm sick and tired of waiting around for what might be. I think I'll buy by what I see here and now from now on. I'll still wait on stuff in the short term but that's about it. By the way I've been an AMD fan hopeful sense my first computer a 1.8 GHz cpu p4 had almost no upgrade ability. The price of the current sandy bridge cpus is just to hard to ignore now.

    So I'm jumping up from a phenom I 2.6 to an i7 2500k hopefully 4.8 Ghz cpu.
  • Manabu - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

No VT-d support, no price cut for i5 2500k nor i7 2600k... thank you AMD..
  • bupkus - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

I'm still using my AMD 635 Athlon 2 X4 desktop with my RADEON 4850. It's still doing pretty good. I have a SB i3-2100 for my HTPC. I may build a new desktop with IB or wait until Haswell. I'm in no hurry.
    I still like my X4.

Hate when people tell us "how well" there old computer is doing.....
  • Leyawiin - Saturday, October 29, 2011 - link

But dammit my 500 Mhz Celeron from 99 still kicks butt in Diablo II!
  • kjboughton - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

There's been no change in stepping. It's a D2 like the others.
  • silverblue - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

What, you're expecting them to use even less power than the current offerings? :P
  • mckirkus - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

"The new prices are $117, $75 and $64 respectfully."

With all due respect, I think you meant respectively. I'm an old fashioned type that thinks poor grammar reflects poorly on your articles.
  • Kristian Vättö - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

Thanks. I have fixed the typo.
  • frozentundra123456 - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

Nice to see the cuts on the price of the lower end chips. However, this seems like just an excuse to increase the price on the top end.

Another 100 mhz really means noting on a chip this will almost surely be purchased with the intention of overclocking. Although to give them credit, Intel has released an i5 2320 I believe that is 200 mhz faster than the original without a price increase.
  • starfalcon - Monday, October 24, 2011 - link

I find it odd that the
    Core i5-2300 is $179
    Core i5-2320 is $185
and Core i5-2400 is $189, at least on amazon.
    I just don't get that.
Still they keep making more chips and moving the prices, so that's good, I'm still going to be very curious about the changes and possibilities with Ivy Bridge in about five months.

Thank you for the compact and thorough listing of the important numbers, but as a geek I think the Intel logo needs some geekery.
I know you were in a hurry (from an earlier message), but 2 colors? PNG or GIF make those smaller, faster to download, and look better.
  • piroroadkill - Tuesday, October 25, 2011 - link

JPEGs used for logos, text and diagrams - scourge of the internet.
  • Kristian Vättö - Tuesday, October 25, 2011 - link

It's just an image I have taken from Internet. I haven't managed to find that many good CPU photos and I don't want to steal photos from other sites.

To be honest, I haven't thought about the image side that much, so hence especially Intel images have been a bit boring. This is why feedback is important, I now know to look more carefully for the images in the future :-)
  • Sivar - Wednesday, October 26, 2011 - link

Not a big deal, of course, just an OCD thing from being on a pre-3G edge wireless network. Oh, the pain!
  • piroroadkill - Tuesday, November 1, 2011 - link

That's fair. To be honest it's a bit OCD.

But maybe you can just hit up Intel, AMD and so on, and get a pack of high res logos and photos.

You can always use them later if needs be.
  • johnsmith9875 - Tuesday, October 25, 2011 - link

Strike me down with it, I am unarmed.
  • MrTeal - Thursday, October 27, 2011 - link

A drop to $117 on the 2120 puts it at the same price as the i3-2100. Is Intel going to kill the 2100 or lower the price on it?

Same deal with then Pentiums, the G630 will now be the same price as the G620 and the G850 will be the same price as the G840.

Do you think this could be dropped into a 2011 iMac 27" and expected to work?

I am really considering an upgrade for the i5-2500S (2.7ghz) to this new processor (or the i7-2600 which definitely should work since the high end iMac comes with it).
