AMD Teases First Radeon RX 6000 Video Card Picture

In a very brief teaser, AMD this afternoon has released a picture of their first Radeon RX 6000 video card.
No further details about the card are given, but based on the sizable triple fan design and dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors, it stands to reason that we’re looking at one of AMD’s high-end card designs. Overall the design looks reminicant of the Radeon VII, which is not terribly surprising since that is the last high-end (high-powered) video card released by AMD.
Don’t be surprised if we see more teasers over the coming weeks, as AMD gears up for its October CPU and GPU presentations. AMD will be holding its “Next Generation Radeon Graphics” keynote on October 28th at noon Eastern.

Rumors are the new cards will be 50% more efficient. Well see, but even if they are only around 25% more efficient, it should help a lot. Had to undervolt my last AMD card, but now I even do that with NVIDIA cards.Alexvrb - Tuesday, September 15, 2020 - link
50% more efficient ultimately just means more performance per watt. How many cores they cram in will still determine actual power consumption (and heat dissipated). So we'll see.HarryVoyager - Wednesday, September 16, 2020 - link
As I understand it, they're going to have twice the compute units from the 5700XT series.I suspect they were technically able to do the 80 CU part in the RDNA1 line but decided not to because the thermal load would have be just to much to deal with for something that may well not have been competitive with the 2080 TI parts.

Doubling RDNA and relaxing the clocks a little could have given them a theoretical part that performed about 15-20% better than a 2080Ti, but at ~360-400W power draw - and they'd have had to shell out big bucks for whichever approach they took to doubling the memory interface. All that and with no RT, so it would have had to sell at a cut price too.Based on the 3080 reviews, I'm quite hopeful that RDNA 2 will be highly competitive. The 3080 performs almost exactly like twice an RX 5700; doubling the execution resources of Navi 10 and mixing in a 50% boost in performance per watt would net them better-than-3080 performance at 320W, or similar performance from the second-bin product at about 275W.
That all depends on them hitting that 50% target, though, and even then they'll more than likely lose in RT titles.

Teehee yeah 50% perf/watt boost from going from 7nm to.... 7nm.Not happening, if they make 30% I'd already be surprised. 50% might be their RT figure, seeing as the performance is nil currently.
