Alan Wake Coming to PC in Early 2012
by Craig Getting on December 14, 2011 3:02 PM ESTToday Remedy announced plans to finally bring their psychological thriller Alan Wake to PC via Steam early next year. The developer will also be including the game’s two pieces of DLC: The Signal and The Writer.
Released in 2010 for the Xbox 360, Alan Wake is a Stephen King-inspired tale about a writer whose wife goes missing in the Pacific Northwest. The game was announced in 2005 as a PC/Xbox 360 release, but in 2009 Remedy confirmed that they’d limited development to the 360.
Though he couldn’t discuss specifics like release date, Remedy Executive Vice President Aki Järvilehto told Rock Paper Shotgun that the PC version will feature Steamworks and promised that “the experience of running it on a high-end PC, with a ninja set-up, [is] a big difference.”
Remedy’s also been prepping another Alan Wake project, the Xbox Live Arcade spin-off Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, which should release right around the PC version of the original. They’ve yet to confirm whether or not American Nightmare will make its way to the PC as well.

Wonderful news! I so wanted this game when it came but couldn't justify buying an Xbox just because of it.mcnabney - Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - link
Geee thanks.Since you poked me in the eye by ignoring the PC market in 2011, I hope you won't mind if I wait until your game is $5 on Steam before I buy it.

Not only that but everything they touted to be so revolutionary about the game...isn't there.Mumrik - Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - link
So, Wake is finally coming home to his original platform. Such a weird dev process.Taft12 - Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - link
Awesome game that I hope looks incredible on a gaming PC!What will be interesting is to see the price of a "new" game that is actually 2 years old...
Anyone remember how much the PC version of Halo 2 was on release? Same idea.

Finally they realise it was a mistake to ditch the PC platform after poor sales from xbox360. I've waited and waited and waited, and wanting to play this for sooooo long.........that all my enthusiasm has now been gone Remedy (I can't justify buying an xbox360 just for one game). Maybe for the next Alan Wake, you will treat us PC gamers more seriously, and not as a last resort for money grabbing.Ethaniel - Wednesday, December 14, 2011 - link
The point is, Alan Wake wasn´t a title for the X360 platform. People tend to prefer more action-based or adventure-based titles on consoles. It needed a year and a half to sell 1.4 million copies. Heavy Rain is more or less on the same wagon too, it reached 2 million units in March, and it´s gonna be two years after it´s launch next February. Psychological thrillers should jump on the PC first and then go to the consoles...Lonbjerg - Thursday, December 15, 2011 - link
What most people seem to forget is that Allan Wake promised a LOT before going crapbox exclusive. In regards to streaming loading, physics ect.
All that changed when it when crapbox exclusive.
The gamed chhanged, got dumbed down a lot...this will just be another consoleport...the Original Allan Wake (the one that had me interrested) died a long time ago.
