iOS 6 will also feature Lost Mode, allowing you to send a phone number to your missplaced iPhone. Anyone who finds it can just tap the phone number on the screen to immediately call you.

I like the idea, especially if it's the only thing someone would be able to do with your phone. That way they couldn't just take it to a carrier for activation or swap sims.

They can still take the SIM out and wipe/reset it, but you can also report it stolen to the carrier and as long as it isn't AT&T they should blacklist it. Still a nice addition to device refinery, I'm an optimist so I think this might actually help a good deal. :p

Huh? But with the phones have physical "ID" numbers (MAC/Wireless) - you'd think they could be blacklisted - tracked anyway.

Last week, I found an iPhone4 in a shopping cart of a store. No cars anywhere.

I thought "free phone" for 1/10th of a second... laughed, turned it in at the store's customer service.

I assume how it works when you send a message to your iPhone from Find My IPhone except instead of a plaintext message it's number that one can press to make a call, much like making an emergency call with a locked iPhone, except the OS now allows this number to be used.
